Fishing Holidays in Norfolk

Norfolk offers a variety of fishing spots, from fresh water lakes and rivers to the salt waters of the wide-open ocean. The Norfolk Broads, with 200 km of waterways, is the largest area of free fishing in the UK. Bream, perch, pike, roach, rudd and tench can be found in the popular Broad rivers of Ant, Bure, Chet, Thume, as well as the less crowded Stiffkey, Wensum and Yare rivers. Stillwater and trout fishing are also common, and chartered boats in costal towns like Wells-next-the-Sea will take visitors deep into the ocean to catch bigger game, like bass, tope, cod and mackerel.

For those who love the sport, Kett Cottages has a number of properties with onsite fishing and angling facilities. The aptly named River Cottage in Great Ryburgh backs into a river filled with brown trout, while the Woodland Lodge is set on the grounds of Haveringland Hall Country Park, which features a quiet 12-acre fishing lake. Several of our other cottages like the Grebe and Kingfisher lodges in Frettenham sit on 20 acres of land, which boasts five lakes stocked with carp, bream, rudd, roach and perch.

All anglers should note that a fishing license is needed in the County of Norfolk, which can be obtained from the Post Office or the Environment Agency.
