Churches

Prior to the 13c there were over 80 monasteries in Norfolk. Though they now lie in ruins there are a fair few that are well worth a visit, not least because many have good walking in and around the sites.

There are over 700 churches and parishes in Norfolk

The church at Salle for instance is one of the largest in the country and is situated in one of the smallest villages! Their grandeur and their numbers are testament as much to the enormous wealth of their benefactors as to their piety.
