Crab and Lobster Festival
Cromer and Sheringham
.jpg)
Cromer and Sheringham have launched their inaugural Crab and Lobster Festival, which will run from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd May 2010. There will be cookery demonstrations, film screenings and music concerts during this three day crustacean extravaganza. In the seven weeks running up to, and including, the event there will be a 'Crustacea Crawl' inspired by the Norwich Go Elephants. Sixty giant lobsters and crabs have been sold to local businesses, schools and community groups who are decorationg them as we speak! They will be included as part of the trail, and then auctioned off for charity at the event's finale. All proceeds will go to the two RNLI stations and Help for Heroes charity. Kett Country Cottages are sponsoring one of the magnificient beasts, and will be decorating him over the coming few weeks - keep an eye on our blog for updates.

Lambing at Snettisham Park
Snettisham Park

Spring time is, of course, lambing time - head along to Snettisham Park where you can see lambs being born, watch ewes and lambs mothering and even bottle feed the orphan lambs. In addition to this you can also see and feed their herd of over 60 deer, see the sleepy pot bellied pigs, meet Shetland ponies Benngie and Barney, say hello to Stella and Stumpy the Dexter cow and calf and avoid being spat at by Inky the guard lama! Collect eggs and grade them ready to sell in the Farm shop or feed the greedy goats who love all the visitors. The farm yard is full of life throughout the year. There is also a huge adventure playground, coffee shop and gift shop on site.

March at Blakeney Harbour Room
.jpg)
Friday 5th March is new Norwich Indie band 'Great Shakes' who I'm told have a good following and promise a great show. I've heard them online and they sound very good.
Friday 12th March sees the return (4th time) of that amazing Blues Rock guitarist Larry Miller. A quite from Classic Rock Magazine - "... one of the firiest, fruitiest, ballsiest guitarists you're likely to hear" says it all. For me his is Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher and Johnny Winter all rolled into one - totally in your face!
Friday 19th March is the Sean Webster Band - same surname as myself so that's a good start. Sean has played here twice before and is blues for the purist and with his outstanding voice sounds for me not unlike chart topper 'Seal'. His acoustic stuff is phenomenal, allowing for his voice to be fully sampled and his guitar playing admnired not to mention his song writing ability! His electric set with drummer and bassist is full on loud so not for the faint hearted.
Friday 26th March sees our monthly Rock and Roll night with this time - Charlie Gracie from the USA plus 'Some like it hot' promising to be something special - Elvis has just entered the building!!
So no excuses - actions speak louder than words, come and have a great time while enjoying your stay in the area as there is something for everyone and having just read an article in our local daily paper re a study claiming happy people are less likely to develop heart disease - what are you waiting for.

Walsingham Abbey Snowdrop Walks
Walsingham

The grounds of Walsingham Abbey are famous for the spectacular ruins of the mediaeval priory and place of pilgrimage. During February they are also famous for an unrivalled display of massed snowdrops. Enjoy a peaceful walk around the grounds where the floors of the woodland dell are carpeted with glorious snowdrops. Stout footwear is recommended as the paths can be soft and muddy at this time of year, but it is well worth the effort. Dogs are welcome but need to be kept on a lead at all times.

Pensthorpe Floodlit Feeds
Pensthorpe
.jpg)
For a fascinating insight into all the rare and colourful birds at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve this autumn and winter, come to one of the floodlit feeds taking place from 24th October 2009 to 28th February 2010.
Daily at 4pm until 31st December and then from 3pm thereafter, the feeds are free to watch if you have paid to enter the reserve or spent £2 or more in the shop. Otherwise there is just a small charge of just £2.
And there’s no need to worry about the cold, because you can enjoy the floodlit feeds from the warm and comfortable Viewing Gallery. From there you will get a full commentary from the reserve’s wardens who will tell you about the breed of birds that are coming in to feed and why, and will then be on hand to answer any questions you may have about birds, and winter feeding here or at home.
