The village of Hindringham lies at the heart of what many consider to be the most distinctive part of Norfolk. It is only 5 miles from the coast, with all its obvious delights and within reach of many of the area’s attractions. There are a superb range of shops and places to eat in Holt 7 miles away and a visit to the Thursday market in Fakenham, 6 miles away is a must. It is also home to Fakenham Racecourse one of the finest rural National Hunt courses in the country. The village of Binham is 2 miles away with beautiful remains of the Benedictine Priory, a local shop and newsagent, petrol pumps, a good butcher, and a pub serving food. The nearest point to the coast Blakeney, Cley and Wells are all about 5 miles away and are outstanding centres for wildlife and a paradise for birdwatchers. You can take a boat to Blakeney Point to see the seals or tryout crabbing on the quayside. Just a short drive away is the Medieval town of Little Walsingham, known all over the world as a pilgrimage centre for people of many faiths. There are several religious buildings in the pretty village and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place for those who want to escape for a while from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts. Great Walsingham has a post Office and a barn complex housing interesting shops and a gallery. Thursford, home of the famous steam organ collection is 2 miles away. At Salthouse, further along the coast, a shingle bank protects the coastal grazing marshes and salt water lagoons from the voracious appetite of the North Sea. Bird watchers can look out for black-tailed godwits, ruffs, redshanks and snow buntings as well as several thousand brent geese in the winter months. The RSPB reserve at Cley has a purpose built viewing are from which to watch waders and Marsh Harriers.
