Cromer
Cromer is known as ‘Gem of the Norfolk Coast’ which gives you an idea of why so many people choose to holiday here. With an enormous variety of things to do and see, there will never be a dull moment. Local facilities include squash and tennis courts, and The Royal Norfolk Golf Club situated nearby on the cliffs between Cromer and Overstrand. The famous pier, home to the fabulous end-of-the-pier productions, a large cinema, the fascinating RNLI Henry Blogg museum which illustrates, amongst other things, the history of the town’s lifeboats and its most famous rescues, and the South American themed Amazona zoo are just a few of the attractions here. In August the town celebrates its Carnival week complete with carnival queen and parading floats!
So you see there’s a lot to enjoy in Cromer, not to mention the wide open beaches and many glorious footpaths such as the Norfolk Coastal Path and Weavers’ Way that can be joined from here.
Cromer is a great base from which to explore the surrounding areas in this stunning part of North Norfolk. Nearby are Sheringham and Overstrand, the Georgian town of Holt with an array of shops, galleries and places to eat and Felbrigg Hall, owned by the National Trust which is just a short distance away. Many of these places can actually be reached by bicycle if you decide you might like a cycling holiday – the Norfolk Coast Cycleway runs parallel to the coast.
The town is famous for its Cromer crab – and there is never a shortage of this particular delicacy in the town and its surrounding fish shops and delicatessens.
Kett Country Cottages have a number of properties available to rent, suitable for all your requirements. Whether coming to Norfolk for a weekend or a week we can find you an ideal base from which to explore this magnificent part of the English coast.
