North West Norfolk has a wealth of variety for those wishing to enjoy all that a holiday on the coast can offer. The main coastal towns of Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea are all close by from where you can sail, birdwatch, swim, take boat trips, play golf, ride horses or just relax on the beaches. Smaller villages including Sedgeford, Burnham Market, Brancaster, Thornham, Titchwell, Burnham Overy Staithe, Holkham and Holme next the Sea allow you to experience the award winning restaurants, country pubs, galleries and the many farm shops selling local and seasonal produce. Sandringham is easily accessible as are the other stately homes of Houghton Hall and Holkham.
This traditional Norfolk Brick, flint and "chalk lump" built cottage is situated in the pretty village of Thornham on the North West Norfolk coast and dates from the 19th century. Calendar Cottage is situated overlooking the village green and the church. The village is close to beaches and the famous Titchwell bird reserve. There are three good pubs and restaurants in the village and a shop also. This attractive property has the added advantage of a heated indoor swimming pool and a (pay as you go) sauna, making it an ideal family holiday home all year round.
The house has an entrance hall with a downstairs w.c. leading off. There is a twin bedroom downstairs also making it ideal for those less mobile.
The dining room leads off from the hall also and has a sunny sitting area and a table seating 10. There is a feature fireplace but no fire. The kitchen leads from the dining room. It is fitted with built in pine cupboards and a dresser shelf. Equipment includes a fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker with extractor and houses the oil boiler. There is a large storage cupboard which has stair gates for top and bottom of the stairs if needed.
The sitting room with its beamed ceiling leads off from the dining room. There is a bay window, a large feature fireplace with a wood burning/solid fuel stove and plenty of comfortable seating. The TV also has a DVD player and a video.
From the hall way stairs lead to the first floor where there are four bedrooms. The family bathroom has a bath but no shower and an airing cupboard. Bedroom one is a twin with wardrobe and drawers. The second bedroom is also a twin with an en-suite shower with w.c. and overlooks the garden, A double room looks from the front of the house. It has pine cupboards and drawers and has a wash basin in the bedroom and an en-suite shower room but no w.c. the fourth bedroom has a double four poster bed with drapes, again, pine drawers and cupboards and a wash basin. All windows are double glazed.
The indoor heated swimming pool is housed to the rear and is approximately 12 x 7 metres. There are two changing rooms with showers and w.c.'s. There is also a pay as you use sauna for guests use in the pool house. The garden is fully enclosed and is laid to lawns and shrubs. There is a gravelled drive which will easily park at least 2 cars off road and a patio area for sitting out
