North West Norfolk has a wealth of variety for those wishing to enjoy all that a holiday on the coast can offer. The main coastal towns of Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea are all close by from where you can sail, birdwatch, swim, take boat trips, play golf, ride horses or just relax on the beaches. Smaller villages including Sedgeford, Burnham Market, Brancaster, Titchwell, Burnham Overy Staithe, Holkham and Holme next the Sea allow you to experience the award winning restaurants, country pubs, galleries and the many farm shops selling local and seasonal produce. Sandringham is easily accessible as are the other stately homes of Houghton Hall and Holkham.
When you arrive at 2 Coastguard Cottage in Thornham, you will immediately know that you will be spending your holiday in one of the special parts of the North Norfolk coast. From the kitchen and the sitting room downstairs the views are spectacular. You can you sit and watch the remarkable birdlife and the sea coming and going up and down the marsh There is a feeling of remoteness and being on the edge of the country that make it special. Having said that, there is a very good village shop, two very popular pubs and a pizza restaurant all in the village and just a short distance from the house. A short drive along the coast road you will find the fantastic Drove Orchards farm shop where they sell really good quality local produce and the most delicious apple juice that they make themselves. Here you will also find the amazing Yurt restaurant which serves really good food in an unusual and cosy environment.
The cottage has undergone a significant refurbishment to make an extremely comfortable, beautifully positioned and well equipped holiday home.
Walking through the front door, you enter a large sitting room with an open fire, lots of comfortable seating, a TV and video. Then through to a second sitting room, with open fire and wonderful views over the garden.
Through this room is the kitchen, which is large and comfortable with huge fridge, separate freezer, 2 oven Aga, electric oven and hob and a microwave. There is a utility room with a washing machine and dryer. There is also a nicely decorated downstairs loo with a large walk in shower. This can be accessed by the back door – and is therefore perfect for washing off sand and salt after a day at the beach!
