Little Walsingham

Walsingham is actually made up of two adjoining villages that nestle in this quiet Norfolk valley – Little Walsingham and Great Walsingham. Both villages have been famous as places of pilgrimage for hundreds of years, with both Anglican and Catholic Shrines to the Virgin Mary here due to a vision of the Virgin Mary by the widow of a Norman knight in 1601.

Little Walsingham is actually a large village and is busy and bustling during the religious festivals. The high street is largely medieval and made up of red brick and timber houses with pantiled roofs, and so is an attractive place for people holidaying in Norfolk to visit. There are oubs restaurants a fish & Chip shop and the Farm Shop selling local produce. Great Walsingham is smaller than its neighbour but is also very attractive with a beautiful 14th century church, St. Peter\'s. Other gorgeous villages to visit nearby are Binham with its remarkable priory ruins, Burnham Market with its fantastic shops, pubs and cafes and the coastal towns of Blakeney and Cromer. Why not spend a day on one of the many stunning Norfolk beaches to be found in this area, or if you want something more active from your weekend away or holiday, how about golf, tennis, horse riding or sailing? There are many varied activities available when you holiday in Norfolk.

If you like trains, why not visit the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway - the longest 10¼" narrow gauge steam railway in the world. The route starts from the coastal town of Wells with a scenic trip to Walsingham and is a fabulous adventure for all the family in the charming countryside of the North Norfolk coast. Kett Country Cottages have many equally delightful houses or cottages to rent in this area to suit all your holiday needs.
