Cley

Cley-next-the-Sea is a picturesque village on the North Norfolk coast, situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cley (rhymes with ‘eye’) is one mile east of Blakeney and four miles north of the Georgian town of Holt, on the main coast road between Wells and Sheringham.

Well known for its Windmill and its magnificent church, Cley is also home to the NWT Cley Marshes Nature Reserve, internationally renowned as a premier bird watching site, so if you are interested in a bird watching weekend or holiday, Kett Country Cottages can find you accommodation in this area to suit all your requirements. There are also a number of arts and crafts shops, galleries, specialist food shops and fabulous pubs and cafes, so there is no shortage of things to see and do. There is a shingle beach to play on and several walking paths through the surrounding marshes.

Cley is also a popular walking destination and is on the Norfolk Coastal Path which can be followed along to Holme-next-the-Sea where it joins the ancient Peddars Way National Trail, ideal for those who like either a gentle dawdle or a more energetic march! Apart from walking there are many other activities available in Cley and the surrounding areas – sailing, golf, tennis, Splash Leisure Pool in Cromer (twelve miles away), crabbing at Blakeney or why not pay a visit to the stunning stately homes open to the public at Blickling, Felbrigg, Holkham and Houghton?

If you are planning a mini break away, a romantic weekend or a week-long stay with the family, let Kett Country Cottages help make your trip to Norfolk one to remember.
