Holiday Cottages in Burnham Thorpe

A village most famed for being Nelson’s birth place. Less well known is the fact that it is home to Nelson’s Shanty Men – a group of local men keeping the spirit of the sea shanty alive! Whilst Kett Country Cottages don’t have any Holiday Cottages in Burnham Thorpe itself yet, we have many just a short drive away, such as some great holiday cottages in Burnham Market. You will also find a variety of other holiday cottages in the locality with many features such as open fires, internet access and even pet friendly cottages!

Holiday cottages in Burnham Market are just a short drive or walk away from Burnham Thorpe and it is well worth the visit; there is a large village green (home of course to the Lord Nelson Cricket Club), beautiful church and very good pub, named, unsurprisingly, the Lord Nelson. The pub has a large garden and a barn where they have live music every week. I believe they may also serve the perfect pint of Wherry, but do beware the Nelson’s Blood – a pretty strong spirit made to a secret recipe that is sold exclusively in the pub to many a drinker far and wide!

The Lord Nelson also offer informative and humorous guided tours around the village which I believe are well worth the price of the tour (£4.50) – especially as this includes a tot of the famous aformentioned Nelson’s blood at the end!
