Congham is a small village just 10 minutes from King's Lynn with its busy town centre, port and twice-weekly markets. The town is also home to the King's Lynn Festival and Eastern Open Art Exhibition. Congham's quiet location is perfect for a relaxing break at any time. Although tiny, the village once had 3 churches; only St Andrew's is still standing; two of Nelson's family were former Rectors here. The Congham Oil Mill, now known as Congham Lodge, stood on the river and was built for the use of processing whales transported from King's Lynn docks. The local pub, The Anvil is located in St Andrews Lane. Congham Hall famous for its acres of Parkland and beautiful gardens including the herb gardens; it is famous for fine dining, lunch or evening. Sandringham House and Gardens are just 3 miles away and Houghton Hall, built by England's first Prime Minister, Robert Walpole, is 7 miles away. The beautiful beaches of the West Norfolk coast are just over a 10 minute drive away. The Nature Reserve at Roydon Common is only a short walk away, an ancient heathland and haven for wild life, but Congham is most famous for the World Champion Snail Race held annually on the 3rd Saturday of July at the village fete!
