Kett Country Cottages

Holiday Cottages in North Walsham

North Walsham is a typical Norfolk Market Town lying 7.5 miles from Cromer and the beaches of Mundesley. Wroxham on the Broads is also 7.5 miles Norwich 15. The town has a station  on the Bittern Line, the railway running from Norwich through to Cromer and Sheringham. The town and neighbouring Worstead were famous for woven cloth made by Flemmish settlers from the 12th Century. The name of the town is derived from Walsham, a lightwieght cloth that used to be woven here, Worsted was a heavier woollen cloth. The Paston Grammar School, now Paston College has had many famous "Old Boys", the most noteable being Horatio Nelson who left aged 11 to join the Royal Navy. Today, the town has a wide-range of shops, cafe's, resturants and galleries and Kett Country Cottages have places to stay in a dn nearby.  There is a modern leisure centre (with swimming pool). Nearby Bacton Woods was bought by the Forestry Commission where there has been a wood since Saxon times, with marked trails it is great for a woodland walk or for mountain biking.
