A beautifully restored Grade II listed cottage retaining many of its original features, this charming one-bedroomed property situated on Mariners Hill in Blakeney, is the perfect getaway for two. Traditionally decorated with a farmhouse-style kitchen with electric range, exposed beams and sash windows, it also offers uninterrupted views across the estuary, salt marshes and sea as well as out to the south-facing courtyard garden.
The harbour is less than a quarter of a mile walk away and here you can stroll along the quayside, watching a variety of boats sail up and down the River Glaven. Take a harbour tour or a seal trip out to Blakeney Point and come back to visit the 14th-century Guildhall. While there, pick up some seafood on sale at the harbour and have a browse around the charming streets of this pretty village. Once home to smugglers and pirates, it is now packed with quaint shops, delicatessens and art galleries.
On the edge of the National Trust’s Blakeney National Nature Reserve, you will get plenty of opportunities for some wonderful coastal walking. Pop into the visitor centre and observation centre for advice on the best walks or head 20 miles west to RSPB Titchwell Marsh, nestled in between two other reserves. The Georgian market town of Holt is just 5 miles south with its great selection of shops and galleries and 9 miles west is the popular seaside resort of Well-next-the-Sea with its lovely beach and vintage steam railway.
