Nestled in the heart of Blakeney, this traditional cottage was once part of the village bakery and now offers relaxing accommodation for a family yet is cosy enough for a romantic retreat for two. Curl up in front of the crackling wood burner in the lounge, sit down to a home-cooked meal in the well-equipped kitchen/diner seating five or enjoy a sundowner in the shingled courtyard. As day turns into night, there are two restful bedrooms to retire to, a double and a single, plus a family bathroom to enjoy a long soak before sinking into the sheets. There is also parking available.
If you fancy a bite to eat, the village of Blakeney offers a tempting deli as well as a selection of pubs and cafes and an array of shops to browse. Spend a leisurely afternoon wandering along the banks of the river towards the coast or hop aboard one of the seal-spotting boat trips from the village quay which head west to the nearby National Trust nature reserve.
When you want to feel the sand between your toes, the harbour town of Wells-next-the-Sea (9 miles) boasts a soft, sandy beach backed by a string of colourful beach huts, while the sweeping sands of Holkham Bay, which you might recognise as the dramatic backdrop to the film Shakespeare in Love, are within 10 miles of the cottage. If beautiful gardens are more your thing, head to Wiveton Hall (1 mile) which also offers a pick-your-own fruit farm.
