Boasting the perfect amount of space for two, this cottage is a charming bolthole for a couples getaway in rural Norfolk. A cosy annexe to the owner’s 17th-century property, this holiday home is lovingly presented with colourful accents and charming décor. Located opposite Whissonsett’s 900-year-old church, you’re certain to embrace the slower pace of life in this chocolate box village. Head 15.5 miles to visit Norfolk’s coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the wide selection of stately homes or venture 30 miles to take in sights at the Norfolk Broads National Park.

You’re greeted on arrival by a pretty garden, lovely in the spring and summer; step inside the cottage and settle in to the open-plan living space. Here you’ll find a lounge and kitchen with a dining table for two set in the middle of the room. Bright and cheerful with pops of colour, the lounge is the ideal space to unwind. A wood burner-effect electric fire will keep things cosy whilst you enjoy a good book or watch the TV. Further inside the property lies a king-size bedroom with a second TV, ideal for lazy mornings in bed.

Prepare to hike or bike your way around this beautiful area, following a route along the banks of the River Wensum (1.5 miles) or taking in the fascinating nature reserve at Pensthorpe National Park (9.5 miles). You’re never far from a beach here in Norfolk, and a trip to the coast boasts days on the sand, coastal walks and the chance to spot seals. Those keen on taking it easy on their travels will no doubt enjoy exploring Norfolk’s stately homes, with Holkham Hall (16 miles) and the royal Sandringham Estate (17 miles) worth a visit.

A lovely well equipped place for the two of us, with two very pleasant hosts who were there if we needed advice and otherwise left us alone. Fantastically placed if you have a wedding to go to at Godwick old barn and want to make a weeks holiday of the trip, as we did.

Eric's Cottage is a little gem. The owners Steve and Leigh are lovely people, always full of useful ideas etc, always there if you need them but NEVER in your face, and extremely welcoming. The cottage itself is a treasure, cosy, comfortable and welcoming, it's like coming home. A great place for couples old and young.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. The owners Leigh & Steve live in the adjoining property and made us feel very welcome. Their welcome gifts were very much appreciated. We were approx 30 minutes drive from the coast (seasides) and several steam trains and cruising on the Norfolk Broads which we did.
