This former 18th century pub has been transformed into a comfortable bolthole in delightful Weybourne, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its location is perfect for couples, families and their dogs, with the beach being less than a mile away, whilst local pub and shop are closer still. Unfortunately because of steep stairs, the cottage is not suitable for children under ten but babes in arms are welcome. The south-facing garden and charming patio area provides a wonderful backdrop for an evening drink or a spot of al fresco dining.

This area is steeped in history, with its stories of smugglers and its secret World War II camp – now the site of the Muckleburgh Collection (0.5 miles), one of the best military collections in the UK – there is plenty to see and do on your doorstep. And of course, there’s the large shingle beach less than a mile away, where birdwatching and angling are regular activities.

Once you’ve exhausted the local delights, there are plenty of attractions slightly further afield. Sticking with the coast, Sheringham (3 miles) and Cromer (7.5 miles) are popular towns boasting lovely sandy beaches - fun for all the family! If wandering quaint villages, exploring boutiques, galleries and antique shops are more your scene, the Georgian village of Holt (4 miles) is a must. For nature lovers, the numerous cycle and walking trails take you through fantastic nature reserves where rare birds can often be spotted.

  • 2 bedrooms: 1 twin and 1 single
  • Bathroom with shower-over-bath and WC - downstairs
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washer/dryer
  • Wood burner, TV/DVD and CD player in lounge
  • Wi-Fi included (speed can be variable)
  • Regret not suitable for children under 10 (babes in arms welcome)
  • Private enclosed garden with garden furniture
  • Off street parking for 2 cars
  • Pub and shop 0.25 miles, beach 0.5 miles
  • Arrival: 15:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details

Nice cottage but the stairs are unsuitable if you are not very good on your feet.

The cottage is handy for anywhere along the North Norfolk coast, especially with the excellent daytime bus service. We found everything we needed. There was plenty of room for two of us, and three would manage too.

EXCELLENT WEEK STOPPING AT No 2 CROWN HOUSE. VERY QUAINT COTTAGE WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED. STAIRCASE IS VERY STEEP BUT THAT'S WHAT YOU GET WITH COTTAGES. VERY CLEAN AND TIDY AND A NICE LARGE TELEVISION THAT IS EAST TO OPERATE. ALL THE UTENSILS ARE THERE TO USE + LOTS OF POTS AND PANS. JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN PARKING YOUR VEHICLE. BEST TO REVERSE IN RARead moreTHER THAN FORWARD, QUITE A BUSY ROAD, THOUGH THERE IS A MIRROR TO VIEW TRAFFIC COMING FROM THE RIGHT. Hide

The cottage is charming and has everything you would need. It's very peaceful, a wonderful place to relax in. We had a wonderful holiday in Norfolk and the cottage played a special role in that. Would book there again and again.

Very comfortable, equipped with all the essentials, lovely garden, and close to the pub, shop/cafe, beach, and the coast bus. It's a traditional cottage, so has steep stairs and low head-room in places, but it's a great holiday let.

Very comfortable cottage. Very good facilities and location. The kitchen worked very well considering it's size and the separate closets for the fridge freezer and washing machine helped with this perfectly. The cottage had every conceivable extra, nothing was left off!!!

Both bathroom and kitchen could do with some modernising. The stairs were were advertised as steep, when in fact they werent just steep, the treads & risers were different widths & heights which made them (in my opinion) quite unsafe for elderly people. The garden was quite charming although the garden furniture could have.done with a good scrub beRead morefore being used. The local shop closed around 4 o clock each afternoon and in my opinion wasnt very well stocked anyway. Hide

Positioned on the A149 a few miles from Sheringham, this cottage is a good base for exploring North Norfolk.
