You might expect the former home of the master of the Cutty Sark to be a little special, and it is, with sumptuous fittings, terrific creek views and a central location in a timeless Norfolk village.

Once the home of Captain Woodget Master of the Cutty Sark, Flagstaff West has one of the most enviable North Norfolk views. From the upstairs living room, enjoy the views over the Staithe, Creek and marshes of Burnham Overy Staithe. The house is just yards from the water at high tide, offering the perfect location for a waterside family escape. And for larger groups, it can be rented with Flagstaff East to sleep up to 11.

Dip your toes in the water while walking along the long sandy beach, reached over marsh dunes 1 mile from the heart of Burnham Overy Staithe. The creek harbour is also worth exploring - it's said to be here that Horatio Nelson learned to row and sail. From here catch the ferry to Scolt Head Island and discover the local wildlife.

No visit to the area is complete without a visit to the vibrant Burnham Market (1.6 miles) - hugely popular with keen shoppers for its unique, trendy stores, galleries and salons. There's also an exciting array of eateries, so whether it's a mid-morning cappuccino or even fine dining you're searching for, you'll find something for everyone - even the kids!

Excellent location, great garden even though shared this was not an issue. Views from the lounge wonderful, felt more spacious than the photos show. Would recommend, we split the cost with family so made it more affordable.

Location

The most northerly county in the East of England, Norfolk is a land of beautiful contrasts. From the swooning reed beds and endless maze of waterways in the Norfolk Broads; the unspoilt stretches of fens and shingle spits where bird and wildlife thrive; a famous royal palace and the historic cathedral city of Norwich, this enticing area of England is just waiting to be discovered. Visit Sandringham Palace and see where the Queen lives or find out where lavender grows; you could journey to one of the largest seal haul outs in Europe at Blakeney Point or have a traditional day at the seaside at Cromer and Great Yarmouth. The cathedral gilded city of Norwich is a wonderful place to lose yourself either walking the ramparts of Norwich Castle or the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum. The city has an exceptional array of shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Well connected to the national rail and road network, Norfolk is easily accessible from London, the M25 and from major city terminals.

Norfolk is characterised by its horizons and big skies, straight highways and rural trappings. Also, when it comes to attractions, visitors to the county will be spoilt for choice. If you love animals and birds, head to RSPB Titchwell Marsh, or the Cley-Next-The-Sea. With such a long coastline Norfolk boasts some magnificent stretches of beach – favourites include Cromer, Old Hunstanton, Wells-Next-The Sea, the dunes of Winterton-on-Sea, and Brancaster (a favourite for dog owners).

There are so many places to visit and activities to get involved in on a Norfolk holiday. We have some lovely properties including country cottages, farm conversions, large family houses, apartments and surburban home from homes in our collection. Why not find your perfect holiday home today?
