A detached single-storey property, this is a homely cottage situated in the East Norfolk village of Geldeston. The understated exterior of the property belies the period-style interior, with its exposed timber beams and huge brick fireplace with a warming wood burner. The bedrooms are both restful retreats, whilst the tranquil garden can be accessed through the dining room and is mainly set to lawn with a table and chairs provided for al fresco dining.

The sleepy village of Geldeston lies on the River Waveney and is separated from the navigable sections of the Norfolk Broads by a historic lock. There are two village pubs within half-a-mile of the property, as well as a convenient shop and post office just one mile away.

Just 3 miles downriver from Geldeston, the market town of Beccles is a delightful place from which to hire riverboats for the day. The town’s numerous small squares are linked with narrow streets and lined with a fantastic array of independent shops as well as a great selection of places to eat. Continue another 10 miles east to Lowestoft, with its delightful stretch of sandy beach backed by restaurants, cafes, tennis courts, and a bowling green.

A very cosy cottage with a great log burner. Very comfortable and very peaceful. Not too far from shops and pubs. We had a very relaxing week, and would recommend a stay at Hillside!

Found the cottage easy enough, down little cul de sac off lane. Nice cosy place where owner popped in to show how to use log burner. Booklet there also to tell how to use oven too. Its in a very quiet area and only one pub in village to use (other one cut off by flooded road and fields) we didnt use the garden seating area as too wet and cold to siRead moret outside. Everything there to make it a comfortable stay. Parking in front of cottage is good. We used as a base for travelling around the area. Hide

Clean and comfortable, well equipped cottage with plenty of space. Pretty gardens back and front. Our only caveat was that it was overlooked but this would probably not be an issue for most people.

This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely, quiet area. The cottage is spotless and contains everything you need. The owners live next door and are very welcoming and friendly but not intrusive. Even the neighbour opposite chatted to us. The Wherry Inn is a 3 minute walk and serves good food. Beccles is a 5 minute drive and has a large Tesco if neededRead more. There are also lots of other beautiful places to visit further down the coast, such as Southwold. We were sad to leave and will definitely return. Hide

Lovely quiet spot for a break in a delightful character cottage. All needs catered for and very helpful hosts at hand if needed. Local friendly pub serving good pub grub just a short stroll round the corner. Nice river walk into Beccles too.

Lovely cottage, great location, very friendly helpful owner. One caution anyone over 6ft needs to remember they need to duck to go into some of the rooms! But being well under 6ft I had no problems! Highly recommended

This was a lovely cottage in a great location to explore the coast. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the owners were friendly and on hand if needed. It was well equipped in the kitchen including a washing machine just incase. Lovely local pub around the corner which was family friendly. A perfect base for family adventures.

A lovely comfortable cottage , everything you might need with owners next door who were very pleasant and undoubtably would have been quick to render assistance if necessary . The cottage was very comfortable, with everything we needed readily available, and all good quality. The low door frames and old doors added to the charm, but you have to remember to duck! The owner, next door, was very helpful, especially when we needed help in having a wheelchair delivered unexpectedly. Without that, we would have been snookered.
