Property code: KT117

This cosy hideaway offers a quaint slice of Norfolk village life just a stone’s throw from the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Monks Cottage is set in a quiet lane and overlooks the parish church of South Creake. The property has undergone complete renovation to provide a very cosy and stylish traditional country cottage. Built of traditional brick and flint, this end-of-row cottage is an ideal base for exploring the area or just relaxing away from it all, any time of the year. The stairs up to the bedrooms are steep so not suitable for very young children or those with limited mobility.

With pleasant outside space, the cottage is situated in the lovely, peaceful village of South Creake with a great pub a ten-minute walk away and a shop and supermarket within a 10-minute drive. It is also very conveniently located for the seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea and the thriving location Burnham Market which has a great range of shops, eateries and galleries to explore.

If you want to venture further, 6.5 miles away is the market town of Fakenham; visit on a Thursday to experience the Charter Market and see the whole town come to life. Also, 6.5 miles, but in the other direction have more of a bucket-and-spade day in the lovely seaside resort of Wells-next-the-Sea: build a sandcastle, dip your toes in the water or have a fish-and-chip stroll along the harbour.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double and 1 connecting twin, both accessed via steep cottage style stairs
  • 1 bathroom with bath, overhead electric shower, basin and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, fridge with small ice compartment
  • Freeview TV in the lounge
  • WIFI available - Due to rural location can be patchy
  • Open fire in lounge
  • Electric convector heaters
  • Small courtyard and gravel area with picnic bench
  • Parking on road nearby - can unload outside the property
  • Pub 1 mile, shops 2.4 miles, beach 8 miles

Very nice little cottage. Really good to have an open fire to sit by. Good location with lots to do nearby. Birdwatching, museums, walking, beaches, stately homes.... 2 bedrooms but you have to go through one to get to the other so only suitable for family rather than two couples. Very very quiet location except for the marvellous owl hootings fromRead more the churchyard. Hide

A very cosy cottage which was the perfect size for the two of us. It is well equipped and has excellent wifi and tv connections, not always the case in Norfolk. We loved the log fire particularly. Well placed for many locations on the coast by car or bike. The lanes around South Creake are great for cycling.

Good base for exploring North Norfolk. Very pretty surroundings, and very peaceful. No local shop or pub but there's plenty within short driving distance. Have to be fairly agile to get up and down the stairs.. but we managed it!

We really enjoyed our stay in Monk Cottage, it was quiet, beautiful surroundings near the church, and very comfortable beds. The only issue would be that this cottage would not be suitable if you had toddlers as staircase very steep and narrow, but for us it was perfect and would absolutely recommend.

Great location - not too far from coast in a pretty, quiet village. We were able to eat in the garden every meal time as we had great weather. We were looking after grandchildren so recommend Holkham Park and woods/beach, Pensthorpe and Brancaster beach.

The cottage is in a beautiful location. The bed is very comfortable, though access to the bedrooms is via a steep and winding staircase.

Not suitable for younger children due to steep stairs and inadequate indoor seating for eating. Pleasant location and well placed to visit North Norfolk.
