Set within 1 acre of private grounds in Saxlingham village, this former schoolhouse is a peaceful escape for couples who enjoy scenic walks and cycle rides. Boasting original features such as high beamed ceilings, wooden floors, an open fire and even period pieces of kitchenware, the property has a lovely cosy feel to it. The extensive garden offers a tranquil space to relax and admire the rich array of resident wildlife. When night falls, climb the wooden stairs to a partially galleried bedroom, a romantic space with a double bed situated under the eaves (with reduced head-height).

Off the beaten track, Saxlingham village offers the essence of a typical North Norfolk village. Hedgerows scented with rose and honeysuckle peppered with sloes and blackberries hem a peaceful rural landscape full of wildlife. Those with an interest in history or architecture may like to pop into the village church which has some fine examples of stained-glass windows dating as far back as the 13th century.

Just 3 miles to the north of the property, the coastal village of Blakeney awaits with its renowned nature reserve. Here you will find wide open spaces and uninterrupted views of the coastline, as well as a colony of seals and migratory birds. Pretty and remote, the Old School House was perfect for getting away from it all. Good amenities in the house. You'll need a bag of logs a day if the fireplace is what you're after and there is 100m of rough road, so don't bring a sports car. Clear instructions and communication from property. I'd recommend.

The schoolhouse was in a ideal setting way out in the countryside but not for everyone as I think it was a bit basic and it could have had a bag of completely logs for the cold nights but it did have radiators that worked well.

If you are looking for a simple and unsophisticated cottage in a quiet, rural and attractive location, surrounded by open fields with wildlife n this cottage deserves serious consideration. A great setting for dogs, though do note that the pleasant and 'natural' garden is not dog-proof...... woofers can wander!

We entered the property and exclaimed Wow, very spacious accommodation for two people. Full of character, surrounded by fields and a small copse. Good location to the coast and various nature reserves. Turn left at the gate walk up the track, cross the road, and follow the footpath sign to the end and return. Really enjoyed our stay.
