Set in the heart of an idyllic village on the Norfolk coast, this spacious, welcoming and traditional cottage makes a cosy and ideal holiday home for a family looking to enjoy this stunning area.

Built from traditional Norfolk flint, this charming detached cottage in Cley-next-the-Sea has an enviable location overlooking the village green. Sitting under the gaze of a magnificent 12th-century church, its wooden exposed beams and cream Aga give a traditional feel, with an elegant formal dining room providing the perfect backdrop for a special occasion. A huge vaulted contemporary-style kitchen leading out to a stone-built courtyard gives a touch of luxury to the property, perfect for a stylish escape to the coast.

With a pub and shops under half a mile away, you’ll have all the essentials close at hand. A deli, smokehouse and pottery studio feature in the village as well as a pretty tearoom or two. Dominated by a stunning 18th century windmill standing majestically on the edge of the marshes, it is just a mile down to the long stretch of coast where you can discover lots of wonderful walking and spectacular scenery.

Explore the acres of marshland of the Blakeney National Nature Reserve, 3 miles away, which stretch all the way towards Holkham National Nature Reserve. In Holkham, make sure that you visit the spectacular 18th century country house and rolling parkland of Holkham Hall and sample some freshly-baked warm scones in the Courtyard Café. For a day out amongst independent shops and galleries, take a drive to the Georgian market town of Holt, 5 miles away, and finish with a bracing walk around Holt Country Park, a mile out of the town.

Map

The most northerly county in the East of England, Norfolk is a land of beautiful contrasts. From the swooning reed beds and endless maze of waterways in the Norfolk Broads; the unspoilt stretches of fens and shingle spits where bird and wildlife thrive; a famous royal palace and the historic cathedral city of Norwich, this enticing area of England is just waiting to be discovered. Visit Sandringham Palace and see where the Queen lives or find out where lavender grows; you could journey to one of the largest seal haul outs in Europe at Blakeney Point or have a traditional day at the seaside at Cromer and Great Yarmouth. The cathedral gilded city of Norwich is a wonderful place to lose yourself either walking the ramparts of Norwich Castle or the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum. The city has an exceptional array of shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Well connected to the national rail and road network, Norfolk is easily accessible from London, the M25 and from major city terminals.

Norfolk is characterised by its horizons and big skies, straight highways and rural trappings. Also, when it comes to attractions, visitors to the county will be spoilt for choice. If you love animals and birds, head to RSPB Titchwell Marsh, or the Cley-Next-The-Sea. With such a long coastline Norfolk boasts some magnificent stretches of beach – favourites include Cromer, Old Hunstanton, Wells-Next-The Sea, the dunes of Winterton-on-Sea, and Brancaster (a favourite for dog owners).

There are so many places to visit and activities to get involved in on a Norfolk holiday. We have some lovely properties including country cottages, farm conversions, large family houses, apartments and surburban home from homes in our collection. Why not find your perfect holiday home today?
